Jake went back to the Doctor yesterday 9/29 and did not get great news. The broken bone in his foot is healing, but has not healed completely. The bone is growing back together, but has not hardened. They moved him from a walking boot to a figure 8 brace. Doc said he has to wear the brace for 3 more weeks and then three to four weeks after that he can be back at his normal activities. He can ride a bike and run and play as long as he is wearing the brace, but he does not want him jumping or doing anything that could rusult in a similar impact to the foot that caused the injury, so it looks like no BMX until next year.
We will probably not go to Grands. He has been off the bike over two months now and I don't think he can get ready to compete at that level in the short amount of time he will have. Jake and I may come up Saturday and Sunday to watch the action, but most likely he will not be competing.
He is discouraged, but assures me he does not want to quit. |
